Glasgow Women’s Library has a great collection of information about women in history but we are also champions of individual stories, the histories being lived today by women and how our own lives and the histories of others can be exciting landscapes to explore.

How can I become a women’s history detective?

What is an archive and how do you use one?

How do my memories fit into the history of Glasgow?

Why is there only one monument to women in Glasgow?

If there were more where would they be?

Where can I learn about Victorian lady plumbers, rabblerousing schoolmistresses, and the single parent mum of St Enoch?

Women Make History

Women Make History is a women’s history group at Glasgow Women’s Library that aims to gather and share information on pioneering women in Glasgow. We launched the West End Women’s Heritage Walk in June 2007 during the West End Festival, and there is now a map of the walk available – please contact the Library to order a copy.

There are lots of ways to get involved. For more information about how you can get involved in developing the walking tours, fundraising, or joining the research and development groups, please contact the Library.

For more information about other courses and events in the Library’s ‘Living Histories’ Lifelong Learning strand, please visit the main GWL website.

The Women Make History Website

We’re currently trying to fix and update the content management system, so you won’t be able to log in at the moment. Please check back later for further developments.
